Ok, that might be a little far fetched. In this day and age you can barely function without access to a computer system or some computer. This is especially true in business. Imagine a day without email in communicating with friends, families, and colleges. Let’s face it, we need computers and they are here to stay. There are schools for all types. These schools include programming, application training, networking, and basic computer skills training. In this article we are going to review the advantages of each depending on what type of computer training you might need.

In this day and age computer programmers are in high demand. They need software to be useful and the internet will continue to expand which will require more and more online programs. With this need comes demand for skilled programmers trained in today’s programming languages. If you are already a computer professional, you may want to consider attending one of many online computer programming schools.

If you are new to the computer profession, I would recommend you get a good solid base first. You can attend a local technical college which will cover computer 101 type material. Then, you can proceed and become the computer programming ninja and make big bucks. Rest assured, skilled programmers will continue to be in high demand.

You might not be considering a career in computers, but have a need to enhance your current computer skills. Perhaps you are a novice and Microsoft Word or Excel and need to improve your skills to get that next promotion. More and more employers look at basic skills as a commodity. Even typing is not optional. Productivity in this day and age requires that you can operate Windows or MAC Operating systems and can at least check email and create business documents.

There are several great application specific training schools. I would first check out [http://www.newhorizons.com] I would even ask your employer if they would foot the bill. Many employers realize that you becoming more productive is a huge asset for them. One other option is to find a specific application your organization leverages and take advanced courses on that. You could become a subject matter expert on a very specific peace of software and guarantee yourself job security and solid pay increases. Businesses always need skilled experts at every level.

If programming isn’t your cake, you might be interested in computer networking. This is also a popular field as computer networks continue to evolve and expand. Almost everything is online in some capacity. By specializing in the network or networks that connect systems together you will be in high demand. A good start is to look at the Cisco Certified Network Associate training. This will give you a good solid foundation in networking and will also give you a certificate that is very employable. Another option to consider is your local technical college. Take a look at your options and make sure that you specialize in the networking field to get the most bang for you buck. You can’t lose with Cisco certification.

For those looking for the basic skills training, first you need to get your hands on a computer you can use at home. There is no substitution for just working on a computer hands on. I would recommend starting with a solid typing course then expand your knowledge from there if you haven’t already. Get the basic software loaded like Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook and start playing with document creation, edits etc. If you are a self starter an online school might be a great choice for you. Start with an online course at your local community college and expand from there.

In conclusion, you will be left behind if you don’t have computer skills in this day and age. Don’t get left behind and continue to evolve with the technologies as they expand. Build yourself a solid base of knowledge and continue to sharpen the saw with training. This is an asset and an investment in your future and should be considered as such.

To Success!

If you enjoy working with computers, learning new programs or testing out the latest computer software products, earning a computer science degree is necessary if you want to find a well paying job in the computer or IT field. Popular hot jobs you can apply for after you graduate include:

* Database administrator
* Software Support
* Software engineer
* Computer engineer
* Interface designer
* Systems analyst
* Computer programmer
* Network Administrator

Each of these careers is rewarding and necessary as more and more companies are in need of those who can use this technology to further their businesses.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, U.S. Department of Labor, Occupational Outlook Handbook, 2008-09 Edition, over half of all computer programmers have at least a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field. This means that earning a computer science degree online will increase your chances of finding your dream job.

What will you learn through an Online Computer Degree Program?

A computer science online degree will prepare you for a career in IT, Computer Security or any of the above positions in the same way as a traditional classroom degree. But instead of having to go to class, rearrange your work schedule, or disturb other areas of your life, you can take classes online, study at your convenience and not have to worry about the added costs of parking or leaving work early to attend classes.

When you take online courses, you can expect to learn any of the following and more:

* Hardware and software design
* Software development
* Troubleshooting
* Networking
* Data Security
* Database management
* Web design
* Develop security plans

Because most companies use technology systems to carry out business processes and communicate with employees, customers, vendors and others, more and more companies are creating IT departments that employ those who understand how networks function and how to keep them secure. Computer systems and manufacturing companies are also looking for talented individuals to create new software and hardware for consumers.
While you earn your degree, you will be able to explore different fields to find one that suits your personality and interests.

Choosing an Online Computer Degree Program

When looking for an online degree program, it’s important to determine which direction you want to move toward in terms of your career. While some areas of computer science, such as computer programming, have seen a slow decline in the number of open positions since 2006, other areas such as computer support and information security have seen an increase.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, U.S. Department of Labor, Occupational Outlook Handbook, 2008-09 Edition, over the next few years, computer support positions are expected to increase by 13%. This means that you should choose a program that allows you to easily find employment immediately upon graduation. A computer degree online that focuses on a certain area within computer science is best if you have a particular talent in that area. You can also choose to become a generalist that specializes in a number of areas. Another pointer is to ensure you choose a computer science or IT program from an online college that is accredited.

Summary

Earning a degree in computer science or one of the many disciplines listed above can help you advance your career in one of the hottest fields today. There are many opportunities for employment once you graduate. While some fields as not a plentiful as others, your chances of finding employment are increased if you have a college degree in Computer Science or IT.

Computer programming courses deal with teaching computer-programming language to students. Languages such as C++, C, Visual Basic, COBOL, PERL, HTML, JAVA, JAVA SCRIPT, ORACLE and many more l are used for coding purposes.

Advanced courses may focus on topics about using a specific computer language or on implementing a particular type of application (such as web programming). Computer Science programs that lead to a Bachelor Degree usually begin with a serious emphasis on computer programming. This foundation is basically for learning more theoretical aspects of computer technology.

There are a number of certificate courses available, focused on developing computer applications using particular technologies. Microsoft offers MCSD, which focuses on developing applications using Visual Basic, Visual C++ and other Microsoft technologies. Many programming schools offer certification courses in Java programming language. CIW (Certified Internet Webmaster) offers tracks directed on web development.

Most Computer programming schools are equipped with up-to-date software and hardware tools for students, enabling them to join the computer industry. Many students enroll for various types of computer courses during their vacations to upgrade their computer knowledge. Such vacation courses often offer discounted fees. Computer programmers typically work in jobs like building commercial software applications, web development, building custom applications for use within a company, database development, computer game programming and many others. Companies requiring their staff to be proficient in such skills may offer to subsidize fees for their employees.

There are cheap computer programming schools available in every city. However, students must keep in mind the quality of service that is provided by these schools. Many schools may offer computer courses for a very low fee, but these schools may not be recognized and companies may not employ people from these schools. It is advisable to opt for a package that suits the specific needs of a person instead of going for a detailed course.

Generally, when schools offer cheap education, they normally compromise on quality. A number of online sites are available that provide detailed information of schools available specifically for programming. It is advisable for students to first visit these schools and then make a rational decision before enrolling.

Computer Schools provides detailed information on Computer Schools, Computer Graphic Schools, Computer Training Schools, Computer Science Schools and more. Computer Schools is affiliated with Microsoft Certifications [http://www.i-Certification.com].

Computers have continued to evolve since their inception decades ago and today we can definitely proclaim that we are living in a computer age. There are few facets of our lives that remain untouched by computers today and the technology continues to develop all the time. What is needed as a result are skilled professionals who are trained in designing, adapting, maintaining and implementing these new technologies and making our lives more productive as a result.

Computer training can be divided into a number of sub-specialties that include computer hardware, computer networking, computer software, and Web development. For those students who have an interest in math and science and show an aptitude for problem solving and analytical skills, a career in computers might be the right one for you. Working towards a career in computers can be done in several ways. You can opt for Associate, Bachelor’s, or Master’s degree programs and / or complete various certifications and certificate programs. Some employers require specific certifications in addition to your degree while others may need only a certification or two. It is therefore sensible to research the jobs that you are interested in and find out what exactly is demanded from a potential job applicant. In general, there are three main fields of study that you can choose from – a computer science degree, a computer networking and technology degree, and a computer programming degree.

Computer Science Degrees – Students interested in computer science degrees might be surprised to discover that the curriculum is barely about computers. Computer science degrees aim to prepare students to understand the technology behind computers and to analyze and solve problems and develop new technologies. There is a strong focus on mathematical computing and data analysis making computer sciences an extremely math-oriented program. As a graduate with a computer science degree, you can expect to spend a large part of your education and career in research. Colleges offer a wide range of computer science degrees from Associate’s to Masters but the minimum requirement for most employers is normally a four-year Bachelor’s degree. Many schools also offer a computer science degree program in tandem with another specialization such as engineering or information sciences for those students who want to diversify into more specific fields after they graduate. Employment opportunities are assured to computer science students as companies are always in need of professionals to develop and maintain their software and hardware. If you want the upper hand in the competitive IT market, a computer science degree would be very useful.

Computer Programming Degrees – Computer programming as a career looks to be stable over the next few years. As long as students are prepared to be up-to-date with the current advancements and technological certifications, there should be no dearth of job opportunities for graduates with a computer programming degree. Computer programmers are those professionals who develop, test and maintain the programs that determine a computer’s functions. Programmers create new computer languages and tools to make computers do specific tasks. Top employers of computer programmers include software development companies who create packaged and specialized software. These could range from general use software, games, educational packages and the like. Programmers with a strong technical base and skills to understand a client’s requirements are always in demand. Web-based organizations, multimedia companies, wireless applications, cyber security are all up and coming new arenas that programming graduates can look forward to as challenging job prospects.

Computer Technology and Networking Degree – A degree in networking and technology will introduce you to the latest theories and practices in computer networking and technology. Students will learn about operating systems of computer networks and will be trained in installing and maintaining the various structures and components of these networks. Job possibilities include becoming a network administrator, computer support specialist or a network systems analyst. Statistics indicate that as industries and businesses rely more and more heavily on the Internet and computer technology, the demand for such jobs will only increase.

CollegeAmerica was established in 1964. It has six campuses with comfortable facilities in Colorado, Wyoming and Arizona. It has trained generations of graduates for new careers in high demand jobs through its high-value degree programs. CollegeAmerica offers accredited degree programs for undergraduates and graduates in healthcare, business, accounting, graphic arts and computers. CollegeAmerica also offers flexible online programs through its affiliation with Stevens-Henager College.
